Our Story

Balloon Kings® began in 2011 when our founder, Gene Nifenecker, left his job as a third-generation sign maker to start a 'first of its kind' balloon store concept and retail experience. Drawing upon discipline instilled in him during his time in the United States Marine Corps, design skills he developed during his days as a sign painter and hand letterer, organizational savvy derived from years as a small business owner, and an innate passion for people and fun, “King Gene” launched the first Balloon Kings® balloon boutique on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. 

Since its humbling begins, Balloon Kings® has now grown into the most successful balloon store in New York City. “After years of trial and error, we have truly built an amazing foundation and a repeatable recipe for success,” says King Gene.
